Sophie Boleyn
Artist, Sophie Boleyn was born in 1961 in Cheverly, Maryland, and grew up in a family immersed in the arts. Her father, an artist and woodcrafter, encouraged Sophie to practice in his studio, which inspired her to develop a strong foundation in drawing and painting. Later Sophie studied color and design at the Ringling school of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida under artist, Jan Bishins, as well as studying under master painter, Jack Thursby. She currently exhibits her work in Arizona, California and Maui.
Sophie favors mixed media to allow her endless options to create unique and surprising results. She works in pencil, oil, acrylic, encaustics, and pastels, and often includes found objects to add a sense of wonder and curiosity in her paintings.
