More Art ...

Brian Bagnall
Illustrator

Brian Bagnall, born in 1943 in Wakefield, England, first studied at Wakefield Technical & Art College (painting and printmaking) and at Kingston upon Hull College of Art. Having achieved his National Diploma with distinction and after a year of teaching printmaking at Hull, he moved to Amsterdam, Holland, and worked for many international advertising agencies and magazines.

In 1970 he started to work freelance in Munich, Germany. Together with his wife he founded “Bagnall Studios”, working in a wide variety of fields. While most of the work concerned advertising and magazines at the beginning, the main accent is now set on books, ranging from cover design, illustration, caricature, cartoon, layout and text to the complete design of a book.

His artistic career was crowned by many exhibitions in England, Holland, Germany, Spain, Italy and Korea. He also teaches drawing and all different methods of painting. Since 1972 Brian and Ushi Bagnall have brought out 59 books and are now working on the 60th. Some of them have run out of print, of course, but others like the ones here are still on the market in Germany. Most of the books about painting and drawing are also available in English, having been published in the USA.

More about their books at www.amazon.de and www.bol.de

The new book they are working at is actually taking them more time than they first thought, so that the "Painting on Sunday" courses will take place only next Summer 2008 again.

Also for May 2007 Brian and his wife Ushi have Drawing and Painting Courses in Crete within the "Crete Creative Summer Academy". Under the headline "Feeling for Drawing and Painting" different techniques are experimented, and they also represent "Everydays' Things Unusually". Whether you are beginner or advanced is not important, since each participant will be cared about individually. You will find further information at www.kretakreativ.eu.

Mission Statement:

I've illustrated and painted all my life as far back as I knew what a pencil and a brush can do. I think visual arts are not only important to the artist but also to the buyer and importantly to the media-publishers, agencies and collectors.

When I was 17 I had my first work published, this was long ago. But today I am just as excited as I was then. When I see my work printed, appreciated or used for a project or product I feel a great sense of satisfaction - today just as much as before when I was 17 years young.
